Collaborative Piano

​​Please note: Collaborative Piano is a concentration of the Music Performance - MM major. If applying, please select Music Performance - MM as the major and Collaborative Piano as the concentration.  

​​We encourage all applicants, if at all possible, to audition in-person.  

  • Live audition dates are scheduled during the weekends in February. Review list of audition dates by instrument here.
  • ​Recorded video auditions are available by request and must be submitted by February 1 to your Blue Demon Domain (for undergraduates) or your application portal (for graduates/post-masters), in the “edit portfolio" section. To enable the recorded audition submission, contact musicadmissions@depaul.edu. ​

​Audition Requirements​

Instrumental:
Perform one sonata in its entirety from the below categories.  You may bring your own partner or a partner will be provided for the audition.
a.)   any Brahms sonata (for violin, viola/clarinet, or cello)  OR
b.)   any Beethoven violin or cello sonata  OR
c.)   any Romantic era sonata for violin or cello such as Franck, Faure, Debussy,  or Strauss.

Vocal:
Prepare one song from each category in the high key (total of three songs.)  You may bring your own partner or a partner will be provided for the audition. 
a.)   Debussy: C'est l'extase, Il pleure dans mon coeur, OR Green (from Ariettes oubliées)
b.)   Schubert: Ganymed, Der Lindenbaum (from Winterreise,) OR Brahms: Von ewiger Liebe
c.)   Barber: St. Ita's Vision, The Heavenly Banquet (from Hermit Songs,) OR Britten: The Choirmaster's Burial (from Winter Words)

Prepare two recitativi from any Mozart opera.  One selection must be recitativo secco, and the other selection must be recitativo accompagnato, to be sung and played simultaneously by the applicant in the original language. 

Sight-reading:
An applicant will be asked to sight-read selections from vocal literature. 

Short Interview:
A short interview will be conducted during the scheduled audition slot.​
