Auditions: Graduate/Certificate

All graduate Performance and Jazz Studies applicants are required to audition. (Applicants for classical Composition or Music Education do not need to audition.)

Applicants in classical voice, violin, clarinet, and all jazz instruments must submit a pre-audition screening video by the extended deadline of January 5. Each piece for the pre-screening should be recorded in a single take and uploaded as an individual track. Recordings of individual tracks edited together from multiple takes are not acceptable.

All instrumental auditions are unaccompanied. Voice auditions are accompanied.

All classical woodwind auditions should be performed on the principal instrument of each woodwind family: flute, oboe, Bb/A clarinet, bassoon, and alto saxophone.

We encourage all applicants, if at all possible, to audition in-person.

  • Live audition dates are scheduled during the weekends in February. Review list of audition dates by instrument here.
  • Recorded video auditions are available by request and must be submitted by February 1 to your Blue Demon Domain (for undergraduates) or your application portal (for graduates/post-masters), in the “edit portfolio" section. To enable the recorded audition submission, you may submit a request form for an exemption to upload a recorded audition.

All graduate Music Education and Composition applicants must also register for an interview. Please register with the following links:  Music Education   Composition
