We encourage all applicants, if at all possible, to audition in-person.
- Live audition dates are scheduled during the weekends in February. Review list of audition dates by instrument here.
- Recorded video auditions are available by request and must be submitted by February 1 to your Blue Demon Domain (for undergraduates) or your application portal (for graduates/post-masters), in the “edit portfolio" section. To enable the recorded audition submission, contact musicadmissions@depaul.edu.
Audition Repertoire
- A movement from a concerto of your choice (if Mozart, no cadenza needed)
- Contrasting piece or one movement from a work that is a concerto or a sonata
- Pick 3 flute excerpts from below:
- Beethoven’s Leonore #3, Allegro bars 328-360
- Debussy’s Afternoon of a Faun, first 4 bars and rehearsal numbers 2-3
- Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis, Andantino movement III
- Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night's Dream, Scherzo
- Brahms' Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, movement 4, mm. 89 through mm. 105
- **Optional** Piccolo excerpt- Pick one from the following list:
- M. Ippolitov-Ivanov’s Caucasian Sketches
- Ravel’s Piano Concerto in G major, opening solo to rehearsal number 1
- Rossini’s Overture to "Semiramide," G-H and T-U
