Auditions: Undergraduate - Cello

​​Applicants have a choice between two audition formats: in person auditions or recorded submissions. Though recorded auditions are accepted, we strongly encourage applicants to audition on campus to benefit from the in-person experience of meeting our faculty and seeing our facilities.

Audition Repertoire

  • ​​​​An etude that represents the applicant's level of advancement such as those by Popper (op. 73), Piatti, Franchomme, Duport or Gruetzmacher (Op. 38) 
  • Two movements of a Bach Solo Suite
  • One movement from a standard cello concerto
Memorization of the entire audition is strongly encouraged. 

Recorded Interview Questions (only applicable to those who select a recorded submission to audition)
