Applicants have a choice between two audition formats: in person auditions or recorded submissions. Though recorded auditions are accepted, we strongly encourage applicants to audition on campus to benefit from the in-person experience of meeting our faculty and seeing our facilities.
Audition Repertoire
Etudes (choose one of the following)
- Bocsha: Etude 1 (Allegro Moderato) from Cinquante Etudes, Book 1
- Naderman: Sonata n.2 from Sept Sonates Progressives I
- Lariviere: 1st etude n. 36 Allegro
Solo
- Free choice from standard solo repertoire
Three contrasting orchestral excerpts of your choice. Examples include:
- Tchaikovsky: Cadenzas from Nutracker or Swan Lake ballets
- Bartok: Concerto for Orchestra 4th movement from 43-59
- Verdi: La Forza del Destino overture
Recorded Interview Questions (only applicable to those who select a recorded submission to audition)
