Vocalists, Violinists, String Bassists and All Jazz Applicants: In addition to your online application, you must submit a pre-audition screening video by December 9. After you submit your online application, you may upload your pre-audition recording to the "Portfolio Submission" section here. All videos received after December 9 will only be considered based on the availability of audition times. Upon passing the pre-screening, you will receive notification by no later than December 20 inviting you to schedule your live audition.
All Other Instrumentalists: After submitting your online application, you will receive a confirmation letter inviting you to schedule your live audition.
Live, on campus auditions are required of all graduate applicants for Performance and Jazz Studies, and usually take place on weekends in February. Recorded auditions are acceptable only for students currently residing outside of the continental United States. These students should email musicadmissions@depaul.edu for instructions on electronically submitting recorded auditions. DePaul does not offer regional or teleconference auditions.
Applicants to the master's in Jazz Studies Composition track must submit a composition portfolio of three original scores in addition to their entrance audition. The scores should reflect a variety of instrumentation. Recordings or computer realizations are helpful but not necessary. After you submit your online application, you may upload your composition portfolio to the "Portfolio Submission" section here. Your portfolio is due by December 9.
Audition results are reviewed and all decisions about acceptance are made in late March. Students are informed of the results by April 1.
Response to an acceptance is required no later than April 15.

and/or media. Recordings or computer realizations are helpful but not
necessary. After you submit your online application, you may
schedule your interview and upload your portfolio to the "Portfolio Submission" section

teaching philosophy, not to exceed 500 words. After submitting your
online application, you will receive a confirmation letter inviting you
to schedule your interview with the Director of Music Education using
your Campus Connection username and password. Live, on campus interviews
are required of all Masters in Music Education applicants, and usually
take place on weekends in February.
