Sound Recording Technology (BS)

A Bachelor of Science with emphasis in Sound Recording Technology (SRT) prepares students for a career in the audio industry. The SRT program includes coursework in recording, sound for video, music production, multimedia, as well as electronics, sound and acoustics, theory, applied lessons, and ensembles.

  • Are musicians as well as sound engineers.
  • Receive real-world experience in an off-campus, world class analog and digital facility.
  • Have an extensive curriculum that includes surround sound mixing, DVD authoring, classical and pop recording and sound for video post production.
  • Write and produce pop music as well as film scores, commercial recordings, and multimedia compositions.
There are two application tracks for Sound Recording Technology Majors:
Performance Track: Sound Recording Technology Applicants pursuing a performance track, please refer to your specific instrument’s audition requirements.
Non- Performance Track: Sound Recording Technology Applicants pursuing a non-performance track must submit a video audition performing two selections that demonstrate their facility and musical understanding by January 1. There is no need for a live audition.
