Jazz Studies (BM)

​​A Bachelor of Music in jazz studies includes applied jazz lessons, courses in jazz improvisation, theory, history, arranging and composition, and pedagogy.

DePaul Jazz Orchestra

JAZZ STUDIES MAJORS:
  • Receive extensive jazz training on their instrument from accomplished working jazz musicians
  • Perform in Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Orchestra, Vocal Jazz Ensemble or Jazz Workshop, in addition to combos. Combos may have the opportunity to record at the end of each quarter
  • Have the opportunity to record and play with guest artists such as Phil Woods, Slide Hampton, Jim McNeely, Clark Terry and Louie Bellson
