A Bachelor of Music in composition consists of traditional musical studies with instruction in analysis, orchestration, counterpoint, compositional procedures and contemporary musical styles.
COMPOSITION MAJORS:- Receive private composition instructions from faculty who are active composers
- Take part in composition seminars with guest composers and musicians from outside DePaul
- Write consistently and produce original works for a variety of instrumental and vocal combinations
- Have compositions performed during DePaul Composers Forum, a quarterly student composition concert, and submit works to be read and possibly performed by DePaul Ensemble 20+, DePaul Wind Ensemble, DePaul Choirs, DePaul Chamber Orchestra and DePaul Symphony Orchestra
