About
Tomás Gueglio is an Argentine composer currently residing in Chicago.

On the liner notes for his album Duermevela, Dan Lippel writes: ‘Tomás creates musical environments that facilitate subtle examinations of timbre, phrase, and gesture. He eschews bombastic surface activity in favor of substantial multi-layered textures. The results are beguiling and moving, music that lives in a space that is balanced between the visceral and tactile on one side and the curated and meticulous on the other.’

Tomás obtained a PhD from the University of Chicago in 2016, a MM from Syracuse in 2010, and a BM from the Universidad Católica Argentina in 2007. Additionally, he has studied with renowned composers in leading festivals such as the Composers’ Conference and June in Buffalo.

His works have been presented by prestigious organizations such as The Library of Congress and The Americas Society and performed by renowned ensembles and soloists like Ensemble Dal Niente, Ekmeles, Quince Ensemble, eighth blackbird, Pacifica and Spektral string quartets, Ben Melsky, and Marco Fusi.

His recordings include a portrait album, Duermevela (New Focus, 2020), and multiple releases by his collaborators. Among others: Madrigales del Río (Quince Ensemble, 2024), Triste y Madrigal (Ensemble Dal Niente, 2021), Nocturno Lamarque (Jennifer Koh, 2021). A second portrait album, Ciclo Lamarque, is currently in production.
