About​
Sara K. Jones, Assistant Professor of Music - Music Education at DePaul University, holds degrees from Baylor University (BME), Michigan State University (MM in Music Education), and Northwestern University (PhD in Music Education). A former public school music teacher, she specializes in instrumental music education at all levels. Most recently, Dr. Jones served as an Assistant Professor of Music Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst where she taught undergraduate and graduate courses and directed the Pioneer Valley New Horizons Band. 

Dr. Jones’ scholarly and research interests include alternative curricular approaches in the music classroom, music education for students with disabilities and music teacher education. She has published articles on these topics in Update: Applications of Research in Music Education, Music Education Research and the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education. She has also presented her research at state, national and international conferences, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) Research Conference, the Society for Music Teacher Education (SMTE) Symposium and the International Society for Music Education (ISME) World Conference.
