About
Meret Bitticks received her Master of Music from DePaul University in
Flute Performance where she studied with Mary Stolper and Louise Dixon.
Prior to attending DePaul, Meret graduated Magna cum Laude from the
Ohio State University under the tutelage of Katherine Borst Jones. An
active teacher, Meret has completed Suzuki training with David Gerry,
Jerilee Kechley, Kim Lorimier, Kelly Williamson and Kenichi Ueda. In
the summer of 2009, Meret traveled to Matsumoto, Japan to study with the
founder of the Suzuki Flute Method, Toshio Takahashi. Meret has
performed with Concertante di Chicago, the Keith Bryon New Sousa Band,
the Rockford Symphony Orchestra and at National Flute Association
Conventions. She was the recipient of the 2001 Theodore Presser Award
and Columbus Women in Music Award as well as several scholarships from
the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Meret has been on faculty at
DePaul University Community Music Division and the Merit School of
Music, and is currently on faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago and
DePaul University. She is a presenter and board member for the Chicago
Flute Club and is featured on recordings for the spinART label and with
Warner Brother's artists.
