About
Mr. Mark Corey is the retired Director of Bands and Fine Arts Chair at Addison Trail High School. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education from DePaul University, a Master of Music Performance also from DePaul University and a certificate in Teacher Leadership from Olivete Nazarene University. While at DePaul University he studied under Mark McDunn, Dr. Edward Kocher, Chicago Symphony Orchestra trombonist Charles Vernon and jazz icon Joe Daley. Mark has taught in public education for 33 years, including 29 at Addison Trail where he served as the chair for Art and Music. Currently, Mark serves on the faculty of DePaul University, Elmhurst University and Northern Illinois University.
Mark Corey has served the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) as audition and festival host, District Band Representative, District President and as State President. During his time on the ILMEA Board of directors he oversaw a complete rewrite of ILMEA policies, the adoption of new learning standards in music and an expansion of ILMEA’s professional and student programming. He has been awarded the Chicagoland Outstanding Music Educator Award, Outstanding Award for Achievement in Teaching from High School District 88, "Those Who Excel" award from the Illinois State Board of Education and the Distinguished Service Award from ILMEA.
Mark Corey is a member of NAfME (National Association for Music Education, ILMEA (Illinois Music Education Association), JEN (Jazz Education Network), and NBA (National Band Association).
