Auditions: Undergraduate - Jazz Guitar 

We encourage all applicants to audition in person if possible. Audition registration will be available after prescreen results are sent. Register for an audition by January 15.

Prescreen Repertoire - Due Dec. 1

A prescreen is required for all applicants who list jazz guitar as their primary instrument. Please review our Prescreen Information page carefully before submission.

• "Star Eyes" (de Paul/Raye). Intro optional, play the A sections with a straight-eighth feel, bridge with a swing feel. State the melody, improvise 1 chorus, comp (in a small-group style) for 1 chorus.
• "Blues for Alice" (Parker). State the melody, improvise 2 choruses, comp (in a small-group style) 2 choruses.

Audition Repertoire

• "Anthropology" (Parker). State the melody, improvise 2 choruses, comp (in a small-group style) 1 chorus.
• "Ceora" (Morgan). State the melody, improvise 1 chorus, comp (in a small-group style) for 1 chorus.
• Be prepared to demonstrate any two-octave major scale.
• Be prepared to demonstrate any two-octave 7th chord arpeggio.
• Sight read a melody line, chord changes, or full lead sheet.
