Application Process: Teacher Licensure Students

All Teacher Licensure candidates must apply to DePaul School of Music by December 1. 

The teacher licensure program at DePaul is designed to meet the needs of individuals who have earned an undergraduate music degree and wish to obtain Illinois State K-12 music teacher licensure. 

Applicants are encouraged to contact musicadmissions@depaul.edu prior to submitting their application for teacher licensure. 

Teacher licensure candidates must complete an undergraduate-level audition to be considered for School of Music scholarship awards.

Application Process

Teacher licensure candidates must complete the following steps by the deadline listed above: 

  1. Submit the Non-Degree/Visiting Application.
  2. Submit transcripts.
  3. Two letters of recommendation.
  4. Prescreen. Prescreens are required for some instruments. View the Prescreen Audition page and Undergrad Audition Repertoire by Instrument to see if your instrument requires a prescreen.
  5. Due by January 15: Register for an interview with our Music Education faculty. There will be Zoom and in-person options available.
  6. Due by January 15: Register for a live audition. If your instrument requires a prescreen audition, you must wait for your prescreen results before registering for a live audition. ​
