Application Process: Master's Students

Candidates for the MM Performance program should submit the following materials by the deadline listed above:

1. Graduate application.
2. Three letters of recommendation.
3. Official undergraduate transcript.
4. Prescreen. Prescreens are required for some instruments. View the Prescreen Audition page and Graduate Audition Repertoire by Instrument to see if your instrument requires a prescreen.
5. Due by January 15: Register for a live audition. If your instrument requires a prescreen audition, you must wait for your prescreen results before registering for a live audition. ​

Candidates for the MM Jazz Studies program should submit the following materials by the deadline listed above:

1. Graduate application.
2. Three letters of recommendation.
3. Official undergraduate transcript.
4. Prescreen. Prescreens are required for all jazz applicants. View the Prescreen Audition page and Graduate Audition Repertoire by Instrument for important information and instructions.
5. A portfolio of compositions is required only for Jazz Studies applicants who select the composition concentration. Performance-track applicants do not need to submit a composition portfolio.
6. Due by January 15: Register for a live audition . You must wait for your prescreen results before registering for a live audition. 

Candidates for the MM Composition program should submit the following materials by the deadline listed above:

1. Graduate application.
2. Three letters of recommendation.
3. Official undergraduate transcript.
4. Portfolio. Please submit a minimum of three original scores to the "edit portfolio" section of your applicant portal.  The scores should reflect a variety of instrumentation and/or media. Recordings or computer realizations are helpful but not necessary.
5. Due by January 15: Register for an interview. There will be in-person and Zoom options for interviews. Interview dates will be posted and available for registration in November/December. You can register through your applicant portal. Auditions are not required for MM Composition candidates.

Candidates for the MM Music Education program should submit the following materials by the deadline listed above:

1. Graduate application.
2. Three letters of recommendation.
3. Official undergraduate transcript.
4. Teaching philosophy. ​In addition to your application, please submit a statement of your teaching philosophy, not to exceed 500 words. The statement can be submitted to the "edit portfolio" section of your applicant portal.
5. Due by January 15: Register for an interview. There will be in-person and Zoom options for interviews. Interview dates will be posted and available for registration in November/December. You can register through your applicant portal. Auditions are not required for MM Music Education candidates.
