Community Chorus

The Community Music Division invites all interested singers to join the DePaul Community Chorus. Founded in 1989, the 150-member group is comprised of singers from all walks of life and varying levels of musical experience. Weekly rehearsals are held throughout the year at the Lincoln Park campus. The wide range of repertoire performed includes choral literature of the great composers from the sixteenth century to the present, as well as folk songs, spirituals, and music from the stage and screen.

The DePaul Community Chorus presents three concerts each year in the DePaul University Concert Hall (including one choral masterwork with full orchestra), is featured in the annual campus-wide Christmas at DePaul concerts, and also performs at various community events. Major works performed with full orchestra include Brahms' Requiem, Bruckner's Mass in D Minor, Faur's Requiem, Haydn's Mass in Time of War, Mendelssohn's Elijah, Mozart's Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, and Schubert's Mass in E-flat Major. The DePaul Community Chorus has appeared at Symphony Center, the Merle Reskin Theatre, the Shedd Aquarium, the Chicago Historical Society, and the Daley Center Plaza Noontime Concerts Series. Visit depaulcommunitychorus.org for more information.

Auditions will be held for proper section placement. Call the CMD office for more information 773-325-7262.
