Recorded Auditions

Requesting a Recorded Audition

We encourage all applicants to audition in person if possible. Recorded video auditions are considered and approved on a case-by-case basis. To request a recorded audition instead of a live audition, email musicadmissions@depaul.edu by January 15.

If your request is approved by faculty, then you must submit your recorded audition materials to your application portal by February 1.

Recording your Audition

Before recording your audition, review your required repertoire:

Please note: Each piece should be recorded in a single, continuous, unedited take and uploaded as an individual track. Professional studio-quality recordings are not required; however, the performer and instrument must be fully visible and the audio should be clear. Audio-only submissions will not be accepted.

In addition to submitting videos of your required repertoire, recorded audition applicants must also upload a brief video responding to the following questions:

  • What is your musical background?
  • Why are you applying to DePaul?

Uploading Your Recorded Audition

After your recording is complete, recorded auditions should be uploaded to the application portal's "edit portfolio" section no later than February 1.
