Hannah A Barnes is a Chicago-based composer, conductor, and performer. Her compositional interests include structure, memory, gesture, and perception of time, among others. She recently completed a master's degree with distinction in composition at DePaul University (MM '21, BM '19), where she studied composition with Christopher Wendell Jones, Osnat Netzer, and Ronald Caltabiano and conducting with Michael Lewanski. Her music has been performed by Ensemble Dal Niente and soloists including Kyle Bruckmann and Jesse Langen. Hannah is also the director of the rhythm is image new music initiative, in which she performs and conducts, with an emphasis on experimental performance practices. Beginning in fall 2021, she joined the DePaul University School of Music faculty as a lecturer of music theory.
