And We Rise: Works of Strength and Resilience - A Spring Celebration at Home

Saturday, May 15, 2021 - 7PM CDT - Virtual Event

Enjoy the DePaul School of Music’s first-ever Virtual Spring Celebration as our students, faculty, alumni, and leadership come together for a virtual evening of uplifting music and inspiring connections. Celebrate with the School of Music community in Chicago and worldwide as we showcase the best of us all during extraordinary times.

We are honored to announce the addition of three prominent alumni to the list of artists for our Spring Celebration at Home! Lyric soprano Janai Brugger, a featured performer with the Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Opera, and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden will perform, as will Orbert Davis, composer, conductor, and the Artistic Director of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic. Both will join our School of Music Advisory Board Chair and the founder of The City Lights Orchestra, Rich Daniels, for a conversation on the arts in our world today. All three are recipients of the Distinguished Alumni Award and are leaders in the performing arts community.

Two more celebrated alumni will be joining our list of distinguished artists for our Spring Celebration at Home! Grammy-nominated Recording Engineer, Mary Mazurek and Artistic Director of Hearing in Color and Bass-Baritone, LaRob K. Payton will bring us their perspective of how their DePaul education helped pave the way for their successful careers today.

These contributions from our alumni will be a wonderful addition to the evening of student performances from our DePaul Symphony Orchestra, DePaul Jazz Workshop, DePaul Opera Theatre, and Chamber Music Program!

While there is no cost to attend, your contribution will mean more than ever as we raise $150,000 in support of our School of Music and student scholarships. Two anonymous donors have already committed a total of $75,000, and they are challenging you to join them. Please register today to join the event and help us match their incredible generosity dollar for dollar.

Don’t miss this truly unforgettable evening!
