Pre-College: Small Group Instruction

​​Piano Duo Class

In this class for intermediate level pianists, students are matched with a duet partner and receive bi-weekly coaching on assigned repertoire for end-of-session performances. The class develops ensemble and reading skills and gives students a chance to interact with other pianists at a similar level. Teacher recommendation required.

High School Cello Choir and Appreciation Class

​Open to high school students interested in performing exciting cello ensemble repertoire and exploring all aspects of cello playing. The class includes a study of the instrument’s history, the lives of great cellists, and selected repertoire by a wide range of diverse composers as well as guided, active listening experiences. Performance opportunities available when in-person teaching resumes.

Cantabile Violin Choir

Open to advanced students, grades 6-12, in Suzuki Book 5 or beyond, this ensemble performs a wide variety of repertoire composed or arranged for violin choir. Members attend weekly rehearsals to strengthen ensemble and interpretive skills. Performance opportunities are available at DePaul Community Music events as well as various community venues. Teacher recommendation and audition required for non-CMD students.

Performance Workshops

For highly motivated students in grades 6 through 12 who are studying piano or violin in the CMD, this Performance Workshop is a series of master classes given by faculty and guest artists. The Workshop gives students the opportunity to receive expert coaching from teachers, gain knowledge and confidence as performers and experience support from peers in a positive, non- competitive atmosphere.
