Music Theory Bingo
This motivating class will focus on enhancement of theory knowledge through music bingo games that work well in an online setting. Developed by Suzuki clinician, Mary Beth Hockett, the bingo games are fun, educational, and versatile. Through interactive activities that involve all students at the same time, they teach sight-reading, sight-singing, aural skills, and recognition of rhythmic patterns. Open to all instruments.

Summer Improvisation for All
 
Level 1 Introduction to Improvisation
Have you ever wondered how people can make up music on the spot? This class will give you the tools to begin the journey of playing instinctually using just a few scale patterns! We will explore different styles of improvisation and how to use note groupings to express music from within. All ages, backgrounds and levels are welcome in this course.

Level 2 – Enhance Your Improvisational Toolbox
Are you looking to improve your improvisational skills? This course will cover a variety of improvisational styles and the scales associated with each style. We will examine music from multiple genres including jazz, blues, rock, and country. This course is taught by a guitarist, but all instruments are welcome. For each class, we will explore a different style of improvisation.
 
Dates:  Session II – Saturday, August 1, 8, 15, 22

 Ages: 10 and up

Prerequisite: For guitar players: must be able to execute scales, chords, and melodies at an intermediate level; for non-guitar players: must understand the diatonic key system, be a proficient reader, and have a basic level of technical independence on your instrument,

I Can Read Rhythms!
 
Dates: Session II – Thursdays, August 6, 13, 20, 27; Saturdays, August 8, 15, 22, 29 
Time: Thursday, 3:30-4:00pm; Saturdays, 11-11:30am
Ages: 5-9
Instructor: Hannah Barton
Location: Via Zoom
Tuition: $60
Prerequisites: Must be studying an instrument that reads treble clef (violin piano, flute, voice, guitar, etc) since at least March 2020; ability to track words in basic reading books; practice parent attendance at each session. Special accommodation for younger early readers.

The Virtual Rockstar Orchestra

Level 2
Rock out with your best bow hand! Together we will study the masters of rock ‘n roll and learn how to play non-classical styles on our instruments. Students will gain rhythm, ensemble, and technique skills through songs such as Fire ‘n Ice, Hangar 18, and more! Techniques taught include pentatonic scales, rock form, chopping, and improvising solos.  
 
Dates: Session II – Thursdays, August 6, 13, 20, 27 
Time: 6:00-7:00pm
Ages: 12-18

Flute Summer Camp 
For flutists of all levels, this three-day summer camp will explore tone quality through warm-ups, tricks for improving flute technique, and tips for what to observe in the musical score when sight reading. Masterclasses and performances will be included along with a short song workshop. Participants will have small individual projects and collaborative exercises during the three days, culminating in a final flute Zoom party. Join us this summer to enhance your flute skills.
