Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, Keegan also studied saxophone with Otis Murphy (Indiana University), Michael Duke (Sydney Conservatorium), and Mario Marzi (Conservatorio di Milano). In 2011, he was the featured soprano saxophone soloist for the Bloomington Chamber Singers’ Indiana premiere of Son of God Mass by James Whitbourn. The Herald Times of Bloomington characterized Keegan’s performance as "flawless and penetratingly soulful."
Keegan enjoyed an early career as a band director, serving as Director of Jazz Studies at Pulaski High School (WI) and Director of Bands at Eastern Greene Schools (IN), before earning a master's degree in education from Western Michigan University. He is currently Associate Director of Admissions and Chicago Regional Representative for his alma mater, Lawrence University, and principal saxophonist in Windy City Winds, Chicago's Community Band.
