About
Monica Benson is a current Master’s student at DePaul University. In addition to being a student, Monica also maintains an active freelance career. Her enthusiasm and experience range from classical to contemporary, from rock and indie to pop music, and the occasional musical. Monica has held the bugler position at Arlington International Racecourse since 2014. She has also performed with multiple ensembles and bands including the all-female 60s pop cover band The Bangers, the Illinois Brass Band, indie band The Generationals, and rock band The Ides of March. Monica is a former program instructor at Sistema Ravinia where she taught trumpet, french horn, trombone, and euphonium. She currently teaches at Hansen Park Elementary and Senn High School through the DePaul Community Music Division in the Chicago Public Schools outreach program. In her free time, Monica enjoys running, reading and drinking really great coffee.
