Trombone Intensive

Attention Trombonists!  Want to add intention and intensity to your practice, performance and career approach?  Join faculty member Mark Fisher for the Trombone Intensive, an innovative virtual week of engaging and interactive instruction, uniquely designed for trombonists ages 16-24. 

Virtual class sessions will run each day from 10AM - 2PM (CDT) with group warmups, fundamentals and live discussion. The hours from 2PM - 5PM (CDT) will be reserved for individual private lessons.  A one-hour private lesson for each student is included with this program. 

Class topics will focus on: 
  • ​Daily fundamentals including breathing, buzzing, sound production, flexibility, building range and endurance, practice journaling and more.
  • Building and balancing your practice routine to meet your short and long term goals.
  • Techniques for how to become your own great teacher and coach.
  • Mindfulness and mental focus techniques specifically designed for practice and performance intensity.
  • Phrasing and musicianship: being a compelling musical architect, playing with intention, and being an engaging performer.
  • How to strengthen your preparation for college auditions, professional auditions, recitals and competitions.
  • Networking and building a career.

Enhance your Instrument Intensive by adding on a Mindfulness for Musicians​ workshop, led by DePaul School of Music faculty member Stephen Burns​. This workshop is designed to heighten a musician's focus, relaxation, confidence, and peak performance levels. Runs daily for one hour prior to the Instrument Intensive.​​
