Percussion Intensive

The Percussion Intensive will be led by faculty member Eric Millstein.  ​

Virtual class sessions will run each day from 10AM - 12 Noon and 1PM - 2PM (CST).  The hours from 2PM - 5PM (CST) will be reserved for individual private lessons.  A one-hour private lesson for each student is included with this program. 

Class topics to include:

  • Efficient and Effective Practice Techniques
  • Principal Percussion Duties and Part Assignments
  • Bach on Marimba
  • Simulating Note-Length on Percussion Instruments
  • Time and Note-Placement in the Orchestra
  • Introduction to Jazz Vibes
  • Audition Preparation and Dealing with Nerves
  • Technique, Etudes, and Orchestral Repertoire (both symphonic and operatic) for Snare Drum, Xylophone, Glockenspiel, Tambourine, Triangle, and Cymbals.​
