Cello Intensive

​​​​August 3 - 7, 2020 

The Cello Intensive will be led by faculty members Brant Taylor and Paula Kosower.

Virtual class sessions will run each day from 10AM - 12 Noon and 1PM - 2PM (CST).  The hours from 2PM - 5PM (CST) will be reserved for individual private lessons.  A one-hour private lesson for each student is included with this program. 

Class topics to be focused in two main areas:
  • Technical Advancement
    • Developing a completely functional bow hold/hand, a fluid bow arm, and a full complement of bow strokes
    • Refining left hand and arm technique for shifting, vibrato and thumb position
    • Encouraging conscientious intonation
  • Important Topics for the Developing Cellist
    • ​Discussing the principles of successful fingerings and bowings
    • Enacting efficient and effective practice techniques
    • Overcoming performance nerves and anxiety
    • Learning and performing Bach
    • Recognizing phrase structure through the identification of harmony and rhythm
    • Enhancing expression and musicianship
