The DePaul University School of Music announces a week-long Summer Residency for New Music in collaboration with the acclaimed new music chamber group Ensemble Dal Niente and featu​ring distinguished guest composer Hilda Paredes.  During this week, young composers and performers will have opportunities to collaborate on new projects, work side-by-side with Ensemble Dal Niente musicians, participate in master classes and receive individualized feedback.  

The composition program includes lessons with DePaul faculty members Osnat Netzer, Fred Gifford and Christopher Wendell Jones​, as well as with guest composer, Hilda Paredes. The performance program includes lessons, coaching and rehearsals with members of Ensemble Dal Niente.   All students will participate in lectures, demonstrations and workshops with DePaul faculty and members of Ensemble Dal Niente​.  Performers of the following instruments are encouraged to apply: flute, clarinet, percussion, harp, guitar, piano, cello and violin (doubling viola).​

Compositions realized during the week-long residency will be performed in evening concerts by Ensemble Dal Niente and performer particpants in the School of Music's brand new, state-of-the-art Holtschneider Performance Center. 

Current undergraduate and graduate-level student composers and performers are encouraged to apply.

This program provides a rare and unique opportunity for students to work with the School of Music's celebrated composition faculty along with members of Ensemble Dal Niente and special guest composer Hilda Paredes. Faculty members are updated as they are confirmed. All faculty are subject to change.

Tuition for the program is $995 (non-credit) which excludes housing. 
For the composition program,  please submit a brief resume that contains your educational background and compositional experience, a comprehensive list of works, 1-3 scores of recent work that show the depth of your experience and range of compositional experience and a portfolio recording, if available, showing performance(s) of work(s).   

For the performer program, please submit a list of works studied and recent performances with list of ensembles (2 pages max) and portfolio recordings of two works, at least one having been written in the past 50 years. Performers of the following instruments are encouraged to apply: flute, clarinet, percussion, harp, guitar, piano, and violin (doubling viola).

Early April, 2020 - Notification of admission status provided to all applicants who submitted by March 16, 2020
April 24, 2020 - Deadline for admitted students to accept admission.  50% deposit of tuition fees due on this day 
June 12, 2020 - Final payment of tuition fees due
July 6, 2020 -  Arrival and Check-In Day
July 12, 2020 - Final performance and Check-Out
