About
Keith Buncke began his tenure as Principal Bassoon of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in July 2015, having been appointed to the position by Music Director Riccardo Muti.

Previously, Keith served as Principal Bassoon of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, a post to which he was appointed in 2014, while still attending the Curtis Institute of Music.

Keith has performed chamber music at the La Jolla Music Society and with pianist Mitsuko Uchida and violinist Vadim Gluzman in Chicago. He has given master classes and taught at the Aspen Music Festival, Northwestern University, University of Kansas, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Roosevelt University, and the Interlochen Arts Academy and Camp.

Keith was born in Orange, California and grew up in Portland, Oregon, before attending the Interlochen Arts Academy and Curtis. He also studied at the Pacific, Tanglewood, and Aspen music festivals, as well as Music Academy of the West. His principal teachers include Daniel Matsukawa, Dr. Eric Stomberg, and Mark Eubanks.
