University Singers
Clayton Parr, conductor
University Singers, DePaul's most select choral ensemble, is conducted by Clayton Parr. Most of the members of this 45-voice ensemble are upper-level undergraduate and graduate voice majors, but the group is open by audition to students of any major. University Singers is dedicated to rehearsal and performance of challenging choral literature of all historical periods in a variety of languages; the group meets three times a week and performs frequently both on and off campus. Recent notable performances have included Handel's Messiah, Brahms and Fauré Requiems and Bach Magnificat with the DePaul University orchestras; a Haitian Folk Mass for the Illinois ACDA convention; Orff's Carmina Burana and Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms with the Illinois Philharmonic, and Honegger's King David with the DePaul Wind Ensemble. In 2007, University Singers recorded George Flynn’s St. Vincent’s Words with the DePaul Wind Ensemble for release on the Southport Classics label.
