Chamber Music
DePaul draws upon the vast experience across its entire faculty to create a chamber music program of true dedication and artistry. Chamber music coaches include members of internationally renowned chamber ensembles and frequent collaborators with many of the world's best known artists. Students receive weekly coaching with the chamber music faculty and perform in all manner of ensembles, encompassing an enormous range of repertoire and instrumentation, including string trios/quartets/quintets, brass and woodwind quintets, guitar ensembles, vocal groups, piano trios/quartets/quintets, and many other mixed ensembles. Our students participate in national chamber music competitions and are frequently engaged to perform in the Chicago metropolitan area.
All students in the performance major are required to participate in the program
for at least two years, although most performance majors participate throughout
their four-year program. In addition, the Chamber Music Program is open to all
music students in Music Education, Composition, Jazz Studies, Performing Arts
Management,
and Sound Recording Technology. We believe that chamber music is basic not only
to good performance, but to good teaching and listening as well. Chamber music
groups are expected to perform each quarter as part of their experience.
