Wind Ensemble
Donald DeRoche, conductor
Conducted by Donald
DeRoche, the DePaul Wind Ensemble includes forty players
who perform a variety of works incorperating any number of wind musicians -
from eight to forty. The Wind Ensemble's repertoire has been assembled to showcase
a wide range of works - from 18th century octets to modern pieces for larger
ensembles. Professionalism and the development of instrumental skills are,
of course, always emphasized since these crucial elements of musicianship will
serve to benefit students as they enter the world of professional performance.
The players, selected by audition, consist largely of graduate and undergraduate
music students, although membership is open to any student at the university.
The ensemble regularly records significant works by 20th century composers
with Albany Records and frequently performs and records with soloists from
major symphony orchestras.
