Early Childhood Program

The DePaul early childhood program is designed to give children a positive beginning musical experience that lays the foundation for a lifelong enjoyment of music. Classes are taught in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. In addition to gaining important skills for further study, children introduced to music in their early years develop coordination, concentration, motivation, and self-confidence. Our instructor, Dr. Eunjin Lee, is a certified Dalcroze teacher and Dalcroze License candidate who has extensive experience working with young children.

Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Dalcroze Eurhythmics is a powerful and exciting way to experience music through purposeful body movement. Students develop a rhythmic vocabulary of motions by walking, running, skipping, jumping, and using imaginative gestures that match the music they are singing or hearing. Engaging class activities include active listening, singing, and improvisation.

Founded on the work of Swiss musician and educator Emile Jaques-Dalcroze, Dalcroze Eurhythmics is internationally recognized as a discovery-based and process-oriented approach to music learning. Eurhythmics (literally meaning 'good rhythm') classes provide a deep and solid preparation for beginning instrumental instruction and enhance the musical abilities of students who are already involved in their studies.

Experience-based and socially interactive music education are core tenets of a Dalcroze Eurhythmics education. In collaboration with the Dalcroze School of the Rockies, we are pleased to offer classes for children, ages 4-8.
