Marta Sofia Honer is an active performer and teacher in the city of Chicago. Coming from a musical family, Marta has been engaging in musical activity since she was a child. Beginning with studies on violin through the Suzuki Method, Marta spent several years participating in Suzuki Strings of Madison and the American Suzuki Institute in Stevens Point, WI. In recent years she has returned to ASI, this time as a teacher trainer, completing coursework with Pat D'Ercole and Ann Montska-Smelser.
Marta discovered the viola through chamber music studies and began her serious journey with the instrument by studying with David Holland at the Interlochen Arts Academy. She currently studies with Rami Solomonow at DePaul University. She has also taken summer lessons and completed master class work with Heidi Castleman, Lewis Rosove, Nancy Buck, and Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot.
Marta currently is continuing studies at DePaul University’s School of Music. In addition to her work with Community Music Division, she works part time for the Suzuki Strings of Madison.
