About
Edgar, originally from Costa Rica, was a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He also performs for the Joffrey Ballet and the Chicago Sinfonietta. Edgar has performed with a variety of orchestras in the area, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Symphony, Milwaukee Symphony, Elgin Symphony, The American Ballet, as well as the National Symphony Orchestra of Costa Rica, solo performance with the Plots Symphony (Poland), Sinfonica Nacional de Uruguay (SODRE) and the World Youth Symphony.
 
He received a Master of Music Degree from Roosevelt University and his Bachelors Degree from Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec. His trumpet teachers include Adolph Herseth of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), Marc Ridenour of the CSO, Channing Philbrick of the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Jean Louis Chatel of the Montreal Symphony and Robert Platt from the Berlin Philharmonic.
 
The Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation awarded him with a second prize, Third prize of The National Competition in Canada and finalist in the International Brass Quintet Competition in Narbon France.
 
As educator he works for Chicago Sinfonietta: Audience Matters and Seed programs, ChiArts high school and Music Institute of Chicago: Brass for Beginners and University of Chicago.
 
In 2011-2013 he did a two Master Classes in Warsaw Poland for the Warsaw Conservatory Joseph Elsner, for the Music School in Plots (Poland) and at The Universidad de Montevideo, Uruguay.
