DePaul University Community Chorus

The Community Music Division invites all interested singers to join the DePaul Community Chorus. Founded in 1989, the 140-member group is comprised of singers from all walks of life and varying levels of musical experience. Weekly rehearsals are held throughout the year at the Lincoln Park campus. The wide range of repertoire performed includes choral literature of the great composers from the sixteenth century to the present, as well as folk songs, spirituals, and music from the stage and screen.

The DePaul Community Chorus presents three concerts each year in the DePaul University Concert Hall (including one choral masterwork with full orchestra), is featured in the annual campus-wide ‘Christmas at DePaul’ concerts, and also performs at various community events. Major works performed with full orchestra include Beethoven’s Mass in C Major, Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Brahms’ Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, Haydn’s Creation, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, Carl Orff ’s Carmina Burana, and Schubert’s Mass in E-"at Major. The DePaul Community Chorus has appeared at Symphony Center, the Merle Reskin Theatre, the Shedd Aquarium, the Chicago Historical Society, and the Daley Center Plaza Noontime Concerts Series.
