Admissions FAQ's - Costs
Q: How much can I expect to spend on
an education at the School of Music?
A: Undergraduates should expect to spend a total of between $40,000-42,000. This
estimated cost includes tuition, room and board, traveling expenses, supplies
(e.g. books), and pocket money. Graduate tuition is currently $580 per credit
hour; the Masters degree requires 44 credit hours, resulting in a tuition cost
of $12,750 per year.
Q: What scholarships are
available?
A: All applicants are eligible for Music Performance Scholarships, which are
offered based on the results of their entrance audition. No other application or
audition is required. These scholarships range from $2,000 to $15,000 per year.
Information on University-wide Academic and Service/Leadership Scholarships for
undergraduate applicants is available from the Office of Financial Aid. Please

Q: What about need-based
financial aid?
A: All need-based financial aid is granted based on the results of your family's
FAFSA, which can be submitted online at
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Need-based financial aid packages can include
Federal Pell Grants, Sate map Grants, DePaul tuition grants, Stafford Loans for
students, Federal Plus Loans for parents, and Federal Work-Study.
Q: When will I hear about my final
award package?
A: Our award packages are included with the acceptance letter, so that by April
1st, accepted students have all the information the need to make their decision,
which is due by the reply deadline of May 1st.
