Admissions FAQ's - Costs

Q: How much can I expect to spend on an education at the School of Music?
A: Undergraduates should expect to spend a total of between $40,000-42,000. This estimated cost includes tuition, room and board, traveling expenses, supplies (e.g. books), and pocket money. Graduate tuition is currently $580 per credit hour; the Masters degree requires 44 credit hours, resulting in a tuition cost of $12,750 per year.

Q: What scholarships are available?
A: All applicants are eligible for Music Performance Scholarships, which are offered based on the results of their entrance audition. No other application or audition is required. These scholarships range from $2,000 to $15,000 per year. Information on University-wide Academic and Service/Leadership Scholarships for undergraduate applicants is available from the Office of Financial Aid. Please call 312-362-8091.

Q: What about need-based financial aid?
A: All need-based financial aid is granted based on the results of your family's FAFSA, which can be submitted online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. Need-based financial aid packages can include Federal Pell Grants, Sate map Grants, DePaul tuition grants, Stafford Loans for students, Federal Plus Loans for parents, and Federal Work-Study.

Q: When will I hear about my final award package?
A: Our award packages are included with the acceptance letter, so that by April 1st, accepted students have all the information the need to make their decision, which is due by the reply deadline of May 1st.
