All in-person auditions must be sung from memory and should demonstrate technical proficiency and musical understanding in a variety of styles. Students should also be prepared to sight-read. All songs should be classical in nature (opera arias, lieder, art songs, etc.); if you are unsure whether a selection is appropriate or not, please call our office at 773-325-7444. Selections should be accompanied when appropriate. An accompanist will be provided unless the student notifies us they will bring their own.

The vocal audition is:

  • three selections: one song each in Italian and English and one in a language other than Italian or English (i.e. French, German, Spanish, etc.). Two of the songs may be the songs already presented on the pre-audition recording.
