Student FAQs

Where can I practice?
The Annex is equipped with bigger and nicer practice rooms than those that were under the stairs in McGaw.  Practice in the Annex may begin at 8am, Monday through Friday, and 9am, Saturday & Sunday. Practice must end by 9:00pm each day. After 9:00pm, up to 14 designated classrooms in the O’Connell building (1036 W. Belden Ave. ) will be available to continue practice until 12:00 Midnight. Note that there will be no music stands or pianos in the O’Connell rooms.

The studios in the School of Music and the practice rooms under the Concert Hall will remain available as they have been.

How can I access the Annex?
The Annex will be accessible from Monday through Sunday from 8am to 10pm. Security will be present in the Annex at the entrance lobby. Everyone must show a current DePaul ID card to gain access.  If a DePaul ID or Community Music ID/pass is not presented, access will be denied.

How do we reserve classrooms in the Annex?
Currently, the four large classrooms at the Annex, room 100, which is the piano lab, 151, 250 and 350, can be signed out at the reception desk of the School of Music just like the other School of Music rooms.

Except for the computer lab in the SOM, where is the next closest lab?
Please check here for the location of other computer labs on campus.
