Cellists at DePaul have a dynamic learning experience that includes strict attention to traditional methods, repertoire and performance combined with all that the city of Chicago has to offer aspiring musicians. DePaul strings coordinator Stephen Balderston, head of the cello department, and adjunct faculty member Brant Taylor offer students relevant and professionally sound instruction, based on their combined experience of over 40 years performing in orchestras and chamber ensembles. Both instructors are consummate performers and educators who frequently give solo and group recitals at DePaul and other venues nationally and internationally. The cello studio at DePaul is a close-knit community of elite faculty and student performers.
