The Viola Studio

All viola students meet once a week for a studio performance class during which they perform for each other and share ideas of all performance aspects. DePaul students acquire the skills necessary to become musicians of the highest caliber. Repertoire will include exercises, etudes, solo and ensemble literature. The studio owns three violas for students who need a better instrument during the time they are at DePaul.
As the former principal violist of the Lyric Opera, former member of symphony and chamber orchestras, and a member of a string quartet for nine years, Rami Solomonow teaches his students about all forms of viola performance.
DePaul viola students have had the opportunity to participate in master classes with Pinchas Zuckerman, James Dunham, Yitzhak Schotten, Richard Young, Karen Ritscher, Helen Callus and Ralph Fielding.
