Gerald Rizzer holds degrees from the University of Chicago and Yale University, and he also attended Juilliard School of Music. He is the founder, artistic director and pianist of The Chicago Ensemble, a professional chamber music group now in its 33rd season of subscription concerts at two Chicago locations. The group has appeared on WFMT every year since the station began live broadcasts. Mr. Rizzer teaches piano, theory and ensemble at Sherwood Community Music School. He is the composer of several music theater works which were performed at Theatre Building Chicago. Mr. Rizzer has taught Understanding Music classes at DePaul University for over 25 years.
