About
Jason J. Moy holds degrees in harpsichord and Early Music performance from McGill University in Montreal, where he studied with Hank Knox and Luc Beausejour. In addition to these principal teachers, he has received much valuable guidance from Bruce Haynes, Jory Vinikour and other mentors. Jason is currently based in his native Chicago, but has concertized throughout the United States, Canada and Europe, including a recent appearance at the prestigious York Early Music Festival in the United Kingdom.
A highly regarded continuo player and accompanist on both harpsichord and organ, Jason has performed with some of the most respected ensembles in Chicago, including the Bach Week Festival Orchestra, Baroque Band, Ars Antigua, Oriana Singers, and Concitato, of which he is a founding member. He has also been featured in live performances on BBC Radio 3 and Chicago's classical radio station, WFMT98.7; on television for CBS2 Chicago; and on the International Music Foundation's acclaimed Dame Myra Hess Memorial concert series at the Chicago Cultural Center.
Jason is a faculty member of DePaul University School of Music, where he coaches chamber ensembles and directs the DePaul University Baroque Ensemble. Jason first began his own harpsichord studies at Northwestern University, where he was its first Harpsichord Performance & Early Music Studies major and principal continuo player for the Northwestern University Early Music Ensemble. Since then, he has trained at various international master classes and festivals with Early Music specialists including Arthur Haas, Huguette Dreyfus, Herve Niquet and the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra.
