About

Eric Millstein is a percussionist with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and principal percussionist of the Grant Park Orchestra. He has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Music of the Baroque, Bach Week in Evanston, and other Chicago-area ensembles. Millstein was previously a member of the New World Symphony and the Rhode Island Philharmonic. He has been a percussion coach for Midwest Young Artists, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, the New World Symphony, and he has presented clinics at the Percussive Arts Society's 2003 International Convention and the 2006 Illinois Day of Percussion.

A native of the Washington, D.C. area, his first teacher was Nora Davenport. Millstein earned a Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory, where he studied with Will Hudgins, and a Master of Music from Temple University, where he was a student of Alan Abel. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from Tufts University
