About
Susan Cook received a bachelors of music from Bowling Green State University, a masters of music from Northwestern University and Premier Prix du Saxophone from the National Conservatory of Bordeaux, France. She studied with Jean-Marie Londeix, John Sampen and Frederick Hemke, has performed with the Hamilton Symphony Orchestra, Canadian Opera Company (Toronto), Grant Park Symphony, Elgin Symphony, KLANG, Chicago Arts Players and was a featured soloist with Houston Symphony, University of Saskatchewan Wind Ensemble and Bowling Green Philharmonia.
Ms. Cook has toured with the International Saxophone Ensemble of Bordeaux and has premiered works by John Cage, Lou Harrison, Marilyn Shrude, Janice Misurell-Mitchell, Sebastian Huydts, Evan Chambers, and others. Prizes include: Grand Award winner, Canadian National Music Competition; Liberace Foundation Scholarship, Northwestern University; Canada Council Grant (1992); Ima Hogg prize winner (1992). Former faculty member, Muskingum College (Ohio). Ms. Cook can be heard on the Quantum, Vandenburg and Mode record labels.
