Application Process: International Students

As a prospective student from outside the United States, you must complete the following steps to apply to DePaul School of Music

Apply to DePaul Using the International Students Application 

In addition to your application, DePaul School of Music needs to receive official copies (not photo copies), of your high school or college transcripts in their original language accompanied by a notarized translation, three letters of recommendation and, if English is you second language, documentation that you have passed the IBT English Language Toefl Exam with a composite score of 80 and no section under 17.


Once your application to DePaul has been received, you will receive a confirmation letter stating that your application has arrived in our office.

Instrumentalists: The confirmation letter will give you a username and password, to enable you to schedule your audition.

All Vocalists:  In addition to your online application, you must submit a pre-audition screening tape or CD by December 1. Click here the pre-audition screening requirements.
Upon passing the pre-audition screening, you will receive a letter with your username and password, no later than January 15, to enable you to schedule your on-campus audition.

Only Undergraduate Jazz Guitarists: In addition to your online application, you must submit a pre-audition screening tape or CD by December 1. Click here for the pre-audition screening requirements.

Schedule your audition  

As an international student, you are allowed to audition by submitting an audition CD or video tape/DVD, only if you are currently residing outside of the continental United States. This audition CDor video tape/DVD must be received by the admissions office no later than February 1st.  

Audition results are reviewed and all decisions about acceptance are made in late March. Students are informed of the results by April 1st.

Response to an acceptance is required no later than May 1st.
